Happy Second Blogoversary J.A.Y.A.!

Hey everyone!!!!

Well, it's that time of year again! J.A.Y.A.! is officially two years old today!!!!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
My baby is two years old!!!!!!! ;)

So this is going to be the shortest, lamest, and least enthusiastic blogoversary celebration ever, but I just wanted to come on and post so that you guys know that I'm still alive and I didn't stop writing J.A.Y.A.! posts forever. I've been super busy with school (senior year ... ugh) and trying to write when I have free time (which is almost never).

So in the two years that Journey of an Aspiring Young Author has been in existence, it has 418 Followers, has gotten 34,834 Pageviews, and has 143 posts on it (144 counting this one). While I'm shy of the goals that I set for myself during the last blogoversary (except for the one about writing another book--yay), I was kind of expecting it since I've gone so many months without being on. While I definitely want to meet those goals for next year's blogoversary celebration, I don't want to hold myself to anything until I know I can really get back into the swing of posting every week (and it honestly looks like that's not going to happen until I graduate college).

So Happy Birthday, J.A.Y.A.! I love you!!!!!!

Hopefully I can get my life together so that I can post more interesting and longer stuff for you guys to read.

Oh, and good luck to any NaNoWriMo participants out there! Hopefully I'll be able to join in on the fun sometime in the future!

What's the Word? Weekend #40

It's time for What's the Word? Weekend number forty!  :)

Technically it's Monday where I am, but I have good reason for being a few hours late (which I'll get to in a little bit). So let's take a look at this weekend's news:

The Bad News:
There's less than five hours until my first (of four) Monday class starts, and I'm still awake to write this. Other than that, no bad news. :)

Oh! Actually, I've gotten a few query rejections, so those stunk.

The Good News:
I finished "polishing" Zulu Tribe!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

I literally JUST finished like ten minutes ago, so that's why I wasn't able to make sure that my WWW post was actually posted over the weekend. I NEEDED TO GET IT DONE, and here's why:

So being the silly person that I am, I decided to send my first round of queries (because I was getting antsy and I couldn't help myself), thinking that I'd have plenty of time to do another round of editing/polishing (because why would I get a request during my first batch of queries, right?). So I sent out my first five queries this past Wednesday. This past THURSDAY morning, I got a full request (and that was the VERY first response I received)! Of course I was ELATED and EXCITED to get a full request (and then knocked down back to earth after I got like, five rejections over the next couple days), but then it hit me ... I still needed to re-read/polish Zulu Tribe!!!!

So yeah, ever since Friday night (because I had homework to do first) I've been staying up reading my manuscript out loud to myself (so it's a probably a good thing that I only have one neighbor, and he doesn't seem to be able to hear me).

So yeah, cut to ten minutes ago--I finally finished reading it! I honestly think it's as polished as I personally can make it (though I may end up reading it again). So if I need to look through it again for any mistakes, I'll probably need to find an editor or beta for the first time ever ... but we'll worry about that when the time comes along.

So yeah, I just shipped off the full request (almost four days later....completely my fault), so fingers crossed that she likes it (though I'm seriously not getting my hopes up too high). This agent tends to be a quick reader, so I'll probably have a response in the next two or three days. I think the best, most realistic scenario would be for this agent to maybe say what she doesn't like about the manuscript if she doesn't in fact connect with it. But anyway, I'm going to stop writing before I get too pessimistic.

In other news:
Taekwondo is still going great. My classes are going pretty good. Tutoring (which I've done the past couple of years) should hopefully be starting soon. And yeah, I think that's it for now. :)

Well, that's all for this weekend folks! Until next time! :)
